Lowering the spare tire
The truck is a 150 Supercab with the spare located under the bed at the rear. I decided to do the the drill of lowering it and checking the air pressure. I can't get the square end of the jack rod to engage when I go through the lowering drill. They won't match up. Its obvious how it works, I even read the manual! Am I missing somethinfg here? Is there some trick to this? Help please.

Yea, I have a same problem. I found out the socket was full of dried mud. I had to use an air hose to blow the dried dirt out. Why didn't Ford make it simplier? They should make a socket on the bumper so it will be a lot easier to get to. The power washer will work too. But what if I had a flat out of nowhere I will have a big problem trying to take the spare tire off.

A little spare tire warning.. Check it out ASAP
No mud or anything else in the socket..the square end and the socket are out of alighnment and it looks like it might take a bumper removal to fix.. That makes it a dealer/warranty problem. Check your spare. You need to check the spare tire pressure anyway so go do it. Don't find out its 25lbs. low or you can't crank it down because of mud or alighnment or whatever when you need to change a flat.
