Question Tire size questions??

I believe I've decided on the 2" daystar body lift plus the 4" Rancho suspension lift. The Rancho gives you the option of keeping stock wheels. I own the 4x2 Lariat S/C with 265/60/18 BFG Radials, which are great. I know when I do the lift I eventually need to go to bigger tires to keep proportional look. My tires are 30" diameter. Is there an easy conversion chart that will tell me what the numbers 265/60/18 mean? The only part I know the 18 stands for 18" wheels. Also, if I do decide to go with a different wheel, what do I need to know about the Lariat's bolt pattern, back spacing, and offset? I like the XD765 Diesel and some of the black teflon series wheels at americanracing.com. Lastly, I am limitted in tire size by what will fit under the truck in the spare tire holder. I've read that 35" tires will not fit under there and need to be carried in the truck bed. Because I do a lot of hauling, I need every inch in my bed. I hope this isn't too confusing and any help would be appreciated.

The first number indicates the width of the tire (approximate width in millimeters) The second number is the profile of the tire (distance from the rim to the tread surface) indicated as a percentage of the width. The third number is the rim size.

So, a 265/60-18 would be 265 mm wide. The sidewall will be 60% of that, or 159 mm high. The rim will be 18".

Right, and the tire diameter is 159 mm times 2 divided by 25.4 mm/in + 18 in = 30.5 in tire. So a 285/65/18 is 32.5 inch tire.

go to discounttire.com and click on the "info center". Click on "tire sizes made simple". You can plug in your numbers and it will spit out the dimesnions in inches.

If your worried about carrying a fullsize spare under the bed, perhaps a 4" lift along with a 2" body lift isn't the best option for you. A truck with 6" of lift and 32" tires(the largest tire that fits under the bed I believe) would look rediculous IMO. Maybe just a leveling kit, custom wheels and 285/65r18's would be better. Then you could carry a very closely sized spare as well.

Yea... don't do both. I am doing the Rancho and it gives you 4" up front and 2 1/2" in the rear. If you install a leveling kit on the front it will sit higher in the front and lower in the back..

You're right. I'll go only with the Rancho. Saved me $150 to $200 right there.

Hang on to the OEM tires....
The Form Enginieer blamed all my vibration issues on my tires.
Put the OEM's back on and still have the problem. Now I've got my Nitto's in the garage and I'm footing the bill to have the re-installed.
I was going to lift and new tires. Not now....
