200 to a 300

hello everyone. just recently found this site. i was wondering if anyone could help me with some questions. Is a 300 a good engine to put into a 1965 falcon racnhero(200)? If so, what major projects would come along with doing so? im only 16, so i havent had that much experience. My father and i bought this to fix up(just some rusted floor boards and other minor things). now that i have a job im planning on putting more money into this. Any help is appreciated. thank you

If I were you, I would put a smaller V8, possilbe build a 331 stroker out of a 302, ar maybe just put in a 351.

Ditto. Any sb, but especially the 302, would be a nice runner. The 300 is too long and heavy, and probably too tall to make a clean installation.

Somewhere in the distant postings is a guy trying to put one in a Ranger. He got all fussy, but I notice he hasn't posted in a loooooonnnnngggggg time. Maybe he's pinned to the fenderwell by his motor.
You will have a sweet rig with a 289 or 302. Good luck.

Thumbs up

If I'm reading you correctly, you Wish to Stay w/ an Inliner.
If that is so, it can be done, you just need to make some Calcs to make sure it's not to much of a bender.
One of the things you've going for you is the Manifolds are on the same side.
Cheque block length, you might have to forego using the factory Fan Blade & install an Electric one or you might have to set the block back if it a tad long.
Next cheque the Height, I belive that they are rather close though, so it shouldn't be a problem.
It'll just take a bit of Time & Rhino to fund your project.
If it's not doable, try building a Performance 200 using a 170 Head, Offenhauser Intake, Borla Header, Mallory Electronics, etc. or find the last variation of this engine series & install a 250 Inliner & build it.
The majority of my experience is w/ Inliners, 170's, 200's, 223's, 262's & 300's, so I can appreciate what you wish to accomplish.
Cheque my Gallery out, my Built to the Hilt 300 Inliner is heading towards the last stages of assembly.
I'll post more as I get them.

Cheers
