65 ranchero engine swap ?'s

hello everyone. just recently found this site. i was wondering if anyone could help me with some questions. Is a 300 a good engine to put into a 1965 falcon racnhero(200)? If so, what major projects would come along with doing so? im only 16, so i havent had that much experience. My father and i bought this to fix up(just some rusted floor boards and other minor things). now that i have a job im planning on putting more money into this. Any help is appreciated. and if theres a better place for me to post this, that might help as well. thank you

If your going to all the trouble to pull an engine and re-install, why not go to a 289/302. It wouldn't be that much more money and you'd be much happier with the end result.
Just my $.02 worth.
Good luck in whatever you do with it.

Ditto. 300 is long, tall and heavy. Revs to 3500 unless you fool with it.

289-302, much more flexible motor, only missing the idle to 2000 rpm torque of the 300. But your '65 is a featherweight and you'll be fine (as have been 10's of thousands before you) with a 289 or 302.

I had a 65 Ranchero that came stock with a 289 4 barrel, with T-10 close ratio 4 speed. I built it up a little, and sometimes ran a 4.11 locking 8" rear diff. I went to 15" 60 series tires, and that little sucker would nearly pull the front tires off the ground. It WOULD have with slicks, or broke drivetrain parts.
