Post My Huntin Truck

I recently bought a 1987 F-150 4x4 Automatic, everything that i know of is stock. I really want to keep the engine stock. But im an avoid hunter, and need a good vehicle to get through the woods with. I dont have much money now, but plan on buying stuff as i go. The truck is gray, im going to remove the trim, and have it painted one solid color(black). Im leaving the silver F-150 logo on both sides. Other exterior im going to put camo tail light covers, and camo mud flaps. Im going to get a camo tool chest to put my guns and other hunting equipment in. Also thinking about a roll bar with some lights on it. Eventually i plan on having it raised a few inches, and getting some bigger tires.

Inside it is a ugly worn out red color. I hate the entire interior of this truck. The seats are faded and wornout. The dash is cracked and the carpet is nasty. I want to get a seat cover for the seat. Im going to put black carpet in. and get some tan floor mats. Those are the colors im going to use on the interior. But i dont know what to do with the dash or the panals in the rest of the inside. Im going to get a good cd player, and put a system in it, because if im not hunting, im listening to music.

If you have any suggestions, ideas or just want to comment please do so. I am open to new ideas. Im just learning anything about trucks. I plan on this truck looking great, but also performing great as well.

You can buy a dash "cap", or just a dash cover to hide the cracked areas. You can also buy new door panels, or just paint the old ones to look like new. Need to use the paint specified for vinyl or plastic from the parts store. You can sometimes find a good replacement bench seat or bucket deats at a salvage yard for around $50-$100, too. Only violation you could make to the outside would be to put a chrome rollbar in the bed. Get a black one to match the paint job!! Good luck!!!

Suggestion #1 - no carpet! These trucks came with a base option for the floor that was a flat black rubber. I highly reccommend this. With all the mess I walk thru when I'm hunting I'd much rather be able to hose out my interior floor than shampoo it.

Bigger bumpers. The roll bar with lights will attract a lot of unwanted attention from the Game Warden, just so you know.

thanks yall, i like the idea of the rubber instead of the carpet. Im going to take it to this custom shop around here and have them do all of the interior work. If i do put it a roll bar it as gonig to be black. but thanks so far, if yall think of anything else, let me know

The rubber floor cover is nice and easy to clean, but it will cost more than you think. One option is to line the floor with a bedcoating material like Herculiner. I'm using "Zero Rust" in an 85 pick-up in the bed and cab floor.

Careful with that rubber floor, mines is from '89 and is tearing very easily. Im thinking when i get some money, get that spray in bed-liner put in as a floor. Dont know how thatd work out though.
