ESP...Sifting thru the fog...
Jeff,
Would like your price and advice on an ESP Premium Care Warranty for an ’02 Escape 4 x 4.
The vehicle has about 34,500 miles and about 3.5 months left and I can’t seem to get a consistant cost for a 6 year coverage plan.
I received a mailer from Ford in October offering me pricing for two categories of service, PremiumCare and ExtraCare, with $100 Deductible over 6, 7, and 8 years and from 60,000 to 100,000 miles.
I thought the 6 year, 60,000 mile PremiumCare makes the most sense for what I need -- that was plan # 433 at a cost of $1,420.40, which includes PA sales tax.
But when I went out to their website www.espfromford.com I was now offered a $100 deductible for $1,345.00 and a $0 deductible for $1,525.00 and can’t tell if this includes state taxes or not.
I’d prefer the $0 deductible -- for only two service calls within the next three years would be my breakeven point (for the deductable delta) and know that through my 16 year history of being a Ford man , this is a no brainer. (Yet shelling out $1,500 for intangibles is also hurting my brain. )
So what’s the scoop…what is the best price I can expect to buy a $0 deductible 6 year PremiumCare 60K warranty, and is the zero deductible only available through the original dealer or can any Ford dealer (you?) offer it?
Thanks!

Jeff,
A few more questions if you don't mind:
This is for a Ford warranty with zero deductible at any Ford garage?
And is payment via the terms of the flier (up to 17 months with 10% 1st payment at Zero % interest) or does your dealership want 100% at time of contract?
Jeff, these my closing buying signs…
Thanks.....

I was not aware of this program, but my finance manager just gave me the details. Yes, it's 0%, but Ford charges the dealer $135 for the benefit of using the 17-month program. Because of my pricing, I can't afford to eat that, so I'd have to add $135 plus tax to my price. I'd be hard-pressed to believe you'd pay that ($144.78) in interest over 17 months on your credit card.
