96-150 5.8 4x4 Torque Converter?

What type of converter/stall speed does these rigs usually come whith? The truck is a Super Cab , short box and pretty heavy and seems to have a higher stall speed converter. It doesn't put much power to the wheels, below 2000 rpm and max torque is at 2800 rpm for this motor. I find it a bit irritating to allways have to rev it to get driveability. It's in 1,2,3 non-lockup mode. Please come whith some oppinions!
