That looks like a medium duty application 435. It looks like the case will work, but you need a 28 spline 2wd output shaft to use the typical Bronco D-20 adaptor.

The cases are the same. With your claim of 31 splines and with a 2wd threaded portion on the output for the yoke, I figured that it was MD and something that I haven't ran across before. The output shaft in the picture looks larger, but I believe it is an illusion and it is the standard 2wd version.

If you used a standard Bronco NP435 adaptor and D20 spud gear, there is NO way that the transmission output was 31 spline. All early Broncos used 28 spline outputs on 3 speeds and automatics.

I don't know what you're trying to prove, the existence of a 31 spline 2wd transmission or that you were somehow able to mate a 31 spline male shaft to a 28 spline coupler

I have to agree with RCrawler. Bronco dana 20's only had the one input spline count which can be found on the 2 wheel drive NP 435. When I built mine I didn't need to even cut off the threaded portion. If you wanna build a cheap adapter you can cut the bronco adapter off behind the 3 speed bolt pattern and cut the two wheel drive rear yoke flange off and weld the two pieces together if you get the right length. I bolted the bellhousing to the tranny and stood it on end on the bell housing and slid the t case on to line it up straight and tacked it together. Then we took it apart to weld it up solid. You need too find someone who can weld cast iron because it requires a special rod and process so it doesn't crack. But it can be done. I did it on my old bronco I had and it worked great never a problem and I drove it hard. Another buddy of mine has had his for years with no problems.

An NP 435 out of a 4x4 with the divorced 205 will also work as that is what I have in mine. I used the 6 cylinder intermediate piece and built my own adapter. I had like $50 into it plus like $60 for the 6 cylinder piece, but that's been 5 or more years ago. RB
