After market granny tranny shifter

I have a 73 f100, 4wd, 390, 4spd with the granny gear. Are there any alternatives to the stock shifter?

Not that I know of - most of the aftermarket shifter ***** will fit, but that retains the stock shifter. I used a piece of foam pipe insulation for 1/2" copper pipe and slid it over the shifter rod, it helps to dapen the sounds of the tranny (they vibrate through the shifter) and feels/looks better.

One does not exist, as your shifter is integral with the transmission. You CAN heat and re-bend the shifter for better angles if you wish, or even cut and shorten it.

Very interesting. I used a section of heater hose on mine. Apparently this is an old OTR trucker's trick.

The shifter rattle/vibration is really bad under some conditions. I've tried everything to get rid of it, with no success..........

I notice no rattling/vibes with the foam insulation. Try some, it's cheap and available at any home store or lumber yard.

I posted the same type of question in the "tranny" forum for an NP435 but had no replies.

So as of right now there is nothing in the aftermarket the could replace a stock NP435 shifter?
