Wheel,Tire,and lift questions

I plan on getting new wheels on my 2004 FX4 when the stock tires need replacing. I am going to go to either a 17 or 16 inch wheel. I havent picked out wheels yet so please offer some suggestions. I also plan on lifting the truck in a few months but will be getting the wheels and tires first (cant do it all at the same time). I am going to go with a 6" lift. My first question is can I get a set of wheels that I can use on the stock truck that will look good when I lift it? What backspacing and offset will they need to be? Also what size of tire should I run? I would like to run 35's but they wont fit on the stock truck. Will 33's fit?

Im planing on either the fabtech, procomp, or skyjacker lift. I read somewhere on here that one of these required cutting on the frame to install it and I would rather not do that if possible so if anyone could tell me if any of these dont require cutting of the frame that would be much appreciated.

Thanks
John

Wheels

If you plan on going with the 6" lift, you will want to go with 35s You would be wasting $$ if you bought 33s right now. You can go with 17x9 after-market wheels and use your stock tires until they run out. Check out sportztrailers.com, they have free shipping and no sales tax (unless you live in New Mexico). I went w/ Eagle alloys

Im not sure about the others but I have the FABTECH and you do have to cut the frame. Its not a big deal. Check out my gallery for other pics.

FYI, I believe that you cannot use 16 inch wheels with the new F-150, I believe that the brake calipers and rotors are too big to fit anything smaller than a 17 inch wheel. Someone correct me if I am wrong. Hope I could help!

Thanks for the info guys. Ive decided on either the 17x9 eagle 186 or the 101. Im thinking ill go with the 186. I havent decided on tires yet.

Hoff,

The truck looks awesome. If you dont mind my asking, how much did you pay for the lift installed without tires and wheels. Have any idea on how much it is compared to the fabtech or procomp??

Thanks
