Question 94 4.9 Oil Pan Gasket Slipping

I am going to have to replace the oil pan gasket on my '94 F150 300 Six. The gasket is slipping out from between the block and oil pan. I have read some threads where I may have to jack up the engine. I want to do it right , but I also want to do it the easiest way.

What is the best top of the line oil pan gasket?

Thanks,

Smittyd

I cannot remember the brand so this post is useless but I know a one piece rubber gasket with the metal inserts (to prevent over tightening of the bolts) is the best way to go....if I can remember the brand I will let you know. Good luck

Fel Pro sells a molded one piece gasket called Permadry. I'm not sure if they make it for the 300 though. It may be more money than a multi piece, but I think the difference is well worth the money. I'm sure Victor makes a similar type gasket. IMO stick to a good quality brand, don't go for the low buck gasket. A few dollars saved will be no bargain if you have to do it over again.
Also, don't over torque the pan bolts.

Secondhandoats and Jwtaylor -- Thanks for the reply. I'll check with the parts store about the Fel-Pro gasket.I will definitely get the best gasket I can find because I don't want to do this again. I think I'll buy an inch pound torque wrench, too.

Thanks again,

Smitty
