78 300G to 6.9D
Hey ya'll, I'm new here. But I'm not new for being an info-maniac, to a forum. I'm mid-40ish (so i'm told), and my occupation is a "toy repairman". I repair, rebuild, or modify, marine diesel engines. To make a long story to be shorter... the truck I had when my son was born in '82, was a 78' F100 SWB Stepside. I gave it to him and he wants to put a, built-up 302 in it (which we already have). I just wrecked my 86 E350 with a 6.9 Diesel, it was one of my service trucks. New engine and transmission, only 40K on it. Truck is totaled. Have, project truck and donor. BTW, my son held the record at the Atlanta Dragway, for a FWD 90 D--ge (A 6BT, one we tweeeeeked). He's got the love of a diesel. Any help ya can give me would be greatly appreciated

it will fit no problem just "beef " up the front for the deisel weight (you already knew that) ..... wouldn't have any extra 6.9 7.3 around??? I been looking to replace my wore out 6.9 can't seem to justify $1400 on a used over 100000 mile motor here... just have to wire you glow plug up..

Well the 300G is out of the 78, and there is enough room in that engine bay to fit an old 534. Tomarrow, the 6.9 and tranny come out of the donor. And get hung in the "engine room" of the 78, to fabricate the mounts, which I think will be the easy part. The E350 radiator won't work due to the width, but thats not a problem. I'll try to take some pics and post for ya'll.
