2004 FX4 Auto Trans Locking Up In Park
Anyone else having this problem? Ford fixed all the other problems (noisy rear end, bent trim, other minor stuff) but it still locks up in park.
This started with around 5000 miles on the truck. It has the floor shifter in the consol. The shift lever locked in park a couple of times, then stopped for a while, then started doing it constantly. I made an appointment to get it and all the other problems fixed and then three days before I was to take it in it started to work again! Since the problem wasn't there the dealer couldn't trouble shoot it so they changed the brake pedal switch as the most likely culprit and it worked perfectly for several weeks.
Then it locked up again a couple times, then started working, then started locking up constantly. I've been driving around for a couple of weeks with the consol cover off so I can get to the release button to get it out of park. Now it has started unlocking properly about one time out of 10.
And yes, I performed the checks in the operators manual and my brake lights work and the fuses are OK. Anybody got any ideas?
