Talking sliding rear window rattle??

Hello everyone,

I have an 04 FX4 SCab. 6500 miles. Just noticed my 1st problem about a week ago. Rear sliding window (manual) is starting to rattle when I go over speedbumps/potholes etc. Rather annoying. Rattles with the window open or slid shut. Something I should bring back to the dealer?? Or did anyone else have the same problem and knows a quick fix for me?

Other than that best vehicle I've ever owned so far. Can't wait for the snow to really test out the 4WD.

I have some squeaking with my rear power slider, but not rattling. One user had the dealer lubricate the weatherstripping, and it seemed to do the trick. I am not sure if that would work for a full rattle. Is the whole window rattling, or a certain pane?

My Experience In The Glass Bus. Would Advise You To Check And See If Either The Upper Or Lower Weatherstrip Is Missing. The Sliding Panel Needs To Have A Little Play Around It So It Will Slide But It Should Not Rattle, Not When New At Least. If A Piece Of Weatherstrip Is Missing This Would Loosen The Glass And Possibly Allow It To Rattle. Aslo Make Sure It Is A Panel Making Noise Not The Entire Unit Squeaking Against The Cab Which I Have Seen Before

This was a popular topic in early (March - April) 2004. There is a Ford TSB for the rattling rear window and your dealership should be able to locate it. I had the same problem and my local service department took care of it successfully. If necessary, you should be able to search the archives for the TSB number.

Thanks for all of your help. Tough to tell if it is the slider or one of the panels. I had my wife sit in the back while I drove, very hard to tell, but it definitely is a rattle. Dealer will take a look at it next week, doesn't seem like a major problem, just an annoyance that's all.
