I would agree on staying away from the Flowmaster 40 or 50, but the Flowmaster 70 is great! You can check the "tone" vs. OEM at the Flowmaster website.

Well worth it!

I, too would like to have increased throttle response, and the extra horsepower. I do not, however, want to increase the noise level to where it would be a nuisance when on the highway.
What about the ****** Performance Magnaflow?
Can anyone who has experience with at least a few of the different options list them in order of “loudness” at sustained highway speeds?

I have the Banks Monster exhaust on my 04 FX4. It's actually pretty mellow. It the air intake that seems to cause most of the noise.
I drive a 450 mile round trip about 10 or 12 times each summer and I've been ok with the Banks noise level. Plus it was easy to install.

DaThomas9, I have had an 18'' Magnaflow catback system on my 4.6 STX. Very loud. Great for racing, no way would you drive it 800 miles a weekend. We switched to the 24'' Magnaflow. Much better, though something you always hear. Just drove a couple hundred miles, no problem listening to the cd, or talking quietly with my wife, but we could always hear it. Of course a longer bed or longer cab and it would be quieter in the drivers seat.
Nailed it once merging onto the 210. Wow, Superchips+Catback+K&N= great acceleration.

Chris - I live three houses from the 210. Don't punch it too often!!
I guess any deviation from stock will be louder, but the 24" was tolerable? Did it get to the point where you didn't hear it after a while unless you hit the gas?
Also, how come Banks, Borla, Flowmaster are okay to be mentioned, but not T R O Y E R?

DaThomas9;
No, I won't on the 210. Don't like folks breaking 90 on my little street much myself.
But I'm sure you will forgive me, I was coming back from Echo Park, merging from the 134, onto the 210 Sunday night. Someone was celebrating the game early or something and I had to blast around him as he moved into my lane. I was surprised and startled, both at the loud roar, and the strong boost. I've been driving it for mileage lately. Forgot how much of a beast it can be, espercially from 50 to 90.
As to not hearing the sound... No I always notice it, especially if I'm barely cracking the throttle, climbing a hill, which is to say every two minutes here in town. Still, if you drive it kind of quick it just sounds good.
