Steering column -56

I would like to rebuild my truck and change back to original column shift. I now use 289+ C4 and a floor shifter.I think 56-60 uses the same column for automatic but I am not sure.Do you know if I can use any of this years or if I have to find a -56. I want to change or rebuild the steering gear box at the same time but what I know from the catalogs the -56 was the only year for this steering box. Is it difficult to modify and use the later model (57-60)
steering box? Appreciate some help!!!!!

I believe the steering box was the same as 53/55, but the actual column is a few inches shorter on the 56.
