Seam Sealer

Working on the interior cab. Can anyone recommend what kind of sealer to use for the floor pan seams? I have used 3M sealer in the caulking tubes but can't remember what number of caulk would be best for the job. Appreciate any help.

I used an Eastwood product called seam sealer. It comes in a can and is applied with a cheap narrow throw away brush. Is flows nicely into the seams, dries in a few hours, has a smooth even paintable surface. Seems to me it was about $25 or $30 for a quart. That is enough to do a couple of complete vehicles anywhere two pieces of metal are welded together that will not be a class A painted outer finished surface.

I use a flexible silconized latex sealer. With any type of sealer the important thing is to make sure it is paintable. If you use plain silcone sealant the paint will not sick and it can cause fish eyes in the paint in areas surrounding the seams and places you might accidently touch. Also, some silicone sealant will rust steel. Make sure you read the label.

I ran a small bead of Old Henry's roofing sealer. It was the stickiest stuff I could find and it's weather proof. John

Auto Zone has automotive seam sealer in a caulk tube. I have had good success with it. It is grey and paintable. You can use paint thinner to
smooth it with your finger if necessary.
