St Mary's Glacier
#2
Try the USFS Clear Creek Ranger Station. Its just south of I-70 on Hwy. 103, in Idaho Springs. If you are in the area, coming west on I-70, get off at the 240 exit....the 2nd exit for Idaho Springs. Hang a left at the stop sign, go over the interstate, continue about 1/5th mile, the station is on your right hand side. They might have maps of the St.Mary's area. Id call first if you arent in the area for something else though. Also, what are you interested in doing at St.Marys?

Didn't know there was a St Mary's glacier in colorado, myself. Interesting. Not even sure if there's one here in Glacier Nat'l Park, but there is a St. Mary there. If it's a National Park, try http://www.nps.gov/glac/ for Glacier Park, or take off the /glac/ to get the main National Park Service website and link to any of the others.
If you have a link to the glacier you are talking about, post it here, I'd love to see it.

Good find on the wheels golfmore, decide on tires yet?
Thanks for the link Colo79, I had it cached about 2 or 3 crashes ago.
Although it's a PITA to navigate, I've found topos and aerial photos here:
www.usgs.gov
I think I've also found maps through the U.S. Forrest Service. Again that was 2 or 3 crashes ago. What I did find on that site was phone #s for regional offices. Good way to find out what's open, what's not. A quick search turned this up:
www.fs.fed.us
Gotta go, halfway through a timing set. Mike

I'm not sure how correct this is, but it was called St. Mary's Glacier, but then they changed it to St. Mary's Alice. I heard someone say that it was becuase the glacier finally melted, so really what is left there is just the snow pack, that eventually melts late summer. That was 10-15 years ago when they called it St. Mary's Glacier. Just what I heard....
