gas mileage 89 7.3 vs dodge 360 5.9

Which of the two trucks would get better gas milage an 89 7.3 or a 95 dodge ram 360 5.9l gaser, supposing they both are stock. Or what if the 89 had the 7.3 banks power

The 7.3 IDI will get better mileage. When I first saw 5.9 I assumed you were talking about a Cummins.

Well, I can tell you that the IDI will do better. Diesel is almost as much as Gas now, We have a Fullsize Dodge 15 pass. Van 5.9, 3.9 gears, 4 spd auto. My old man towed a loaded U-haul trailer to Manitoba, and figured the milage out to around 19 Mpg. (that was there and back not one way) The old '88 diesel we have supercab 1-ton dually 4:10 Limited slip, 2wd, C6 6.9 still runs every day for alot less then the van will and it gets about 15Mpg, go figure eh?

I had a 88 dodge 3/4 ton 4wd with a 360 4bbl, 4:10 gears and averaged around 12 mpg, I average 17 mpg with my 97 psd f250 4wd 4:10 gears.
