sputtering at 50 mph

I have a 77 ford f250 with a 400 and the truck sputters around 50mph. I have replaced wires and plugs. Could it be the carb or what? Any help would be great.

Thanks, bulldog

could be, does it do it in park when you rev it? sounds like a carb problem. aftermarket or stock carb? check float levels and choke operation. also cap and rotor.

I had the same problem with a 302 last year. I wasn't able to replace the fuel filter on the carb with a standard one from a parts store, so I used a steel compression fitting and installed an inline filter. Problem solved for under 10 bucks.

Hope your problem is that simple.
