(The flows have a loud drown) Not true!!! Flowmaster's come in different series... 40 is loud and 70 sounds great - just above OEM. Plus, it's all based on what YOU consider is loud?
From personal experience... gains in mpg's (minor) and in rear end power was well worth the Flowmaster price tag.
I had the shop put on the Flowmaster 40 on my FX4 Screw. Turns out not as loud as I anticipated but still sounds great. I agree with Tod. My loud is not enough for me but may be too much for you.
i had a custom exhaust shop put on my magnaflow and the owner said ford trucks in general are quieter than the rest so no matter what company you go with, there wont be much of a difference in loudness, just tone. (so he said)
well if you really want it louder...maybe consider adding a high flow intake to that exhaust upgrade. You'll be sucking in a little more air to push out. Also for loudness to agrivate your neighbers in the morning...consider highflow cats and short-tube headers to go with
I live in Wayne, Michigan. Had a local shop install a 3" in 2.5" dual out on my 04 FX4. Told him I wanted a nice mellow sound, not to loud. He bolted up a 40 series Flowmaster Deltaflow and took it for a ride. Said he figured it was louder than I wanted, so he put on a 50 series Deltaflow. Welded the entire system. Sounds great. Took a ride out to Cabela's, 80 mi round trip, backroads out and interstate home. Nice burble at idle, a little growl on acceleration, and no "drone" at cruising speed. Can't really tell if there is any improvement in performance. Art Holland
I replaced my stock muffler with a two chamber flow master, also installed a stainless 3" exhaust tip.sounds great.you could go with a three chamber for a more muffled sound.
