460 motor mounts in a 68 f100

Hey Gang,

Anybody know where I can get a set of 460 truck motor mounts for a 68?

I am swapping out a 390 for a much nicer 460 and could use some insight.

Jerry, Go to your favorite junk yard and get a set of perches from a late 70s truck with a 460 and you'll be in bidness. The M V8 that would be in 77-79 is the same engine family but I'm not sure if the perches are the same.

well, the engine is from a 1970 lincoln continental. the guy i bought the motor/tranny off of, didnt include the whole mounting set (i guess it comes in 2 pieces). so, would your idea work that way?

this beast is fighting me every step of the way!

A friend of mine used the 76 F100 360 FE frame mounts I gave him to put a 460 in his 66 F100. There are a few locations that the brackets can be bolted down, don't know what ones would work for the 460. Good luck, George

Jerry, It is a two piece system. Motor mounts are bolted to the engine and in turn are bolted to the perches aka engine stands. I have never delt with a 460 so I don't know what perches will or will not work. It very well could use the same a the I-6 & 352/390. I do know the 302/351W uses a different swept back perch.

There shouldn't be any difference in motor mounts between the car & truck, but should be on the perches. The engine bays are the same configuration from 65 to 79 and 460s were offered in the late 70s, therefore my recommendation to find late 70s 460 perches to use in your truck.

kapeesh??

IIRC there is a difference in the tailshaft length between the Lincoln C6 and the truck C6, but you can fix that with a custom driveshaft.

yeah, looks like we are going to have to cut roughly 10 inches off the shaft. it shouldnt be a problem. thanks for the heads-up though!

i have a 77 lincoln 460 in my 67 f100.the mounts i used were from a late 70's truck with a 460 and they are a 3 piece deal.these are your best bet if you can find a set, also grab the truck manifolds if you can.the lincoln manifolds stick out a little too far and are way too close to the frame making the exhaust pipe very difficult to attach to the passenger manifold.as for the tranny you are using,it would be easier to find a truck c6.
you gotta think ahead,if the lincoln tranny takes a dump then you'll have to put another lincoln tranny in it's place.the c6 truck trans can be found behind the 351m/400's and will work with the 460.also,you may have to move your crossmember back a little and drill new holes to bolt it down(easy).

shameless plug here ,but my truck is for sale with the 460 already in and running.$2,500 obo

Did same swap about 12 yrs. ago.429-460 has 3 pc. set-up, "cup" on engine, rubber mount, and frame perch.opted for FOMOCO parts, at the timeprice was about the same as L&L products.About $250 for everything, new. Also older c-6 has "fins" on top of bellhousing, might interfere with tunnel.

thanks for the info. i will keep an eye on the tranny issues.

found the mounts at l&l for 125. looks to be just what the Dr. ordered.

i am thinking of throwing headers on this beast (if you are going to be a bear, be a grizzly). with an edelbrock intake, anybody have a rough guess on dyno numbers? it has a .30 over and is slightly above stock. i am thinking that back in the day, that engine rated at around 360hp. i am thinking i should push 375-400. thoughts?
