headers, y-pipe, and cat for 5.8l

I have a 95 f150 with 5.8l reg cab short box. I have recently installed an Edelbrock rpm series muffler. I am working my way up to the engine with a whole new exhuast system looking for some added low end torque. I have researched edelbrock and bassani headers and bassani y-pipe and cats. Which system would anyone suggest-especially the headers. Seems like i rarely see anyone with edelbrock headers and maybe this fact has already answered my question.

I have also got a 95 5.8, we have just put on the bassani headers about a month ago and they have been flawless so far. We got the ceramic coated ones and they look awsome still after being run for about a month now....the color hardly changed were as they would turn blueish with chrome ones. Also all the EGR hookups still come with the headers so you dont have to worry about what to do with the EGR tubes.

Im putting our dual exhaust on this weekend, im pumped.....true duals flowing through an X-pipe to 2 flowmaster 40delta's out 3" 45degree tips out behind the rear wheels. SHould sound pretty good.

Thanks for the info. Let me know the overall differance in torque when you are done between now and when it was stock.

I recommend Bassani headers, and Y pipe. I had the ceramic coated headers, and street legal Y pipe on my bronco, and they were a great add-on.

Im going to go with true duals with bassani optimum length headers(HTC) and high flow cats. Will let you know how it performs. Did you get a significant performance gain with the headers?

Its tough to say if headers alone helped. I added them at the same time I swapped out my Y pipe and catback. Overall, my truck became quicker, and because it had more power, I was in the gas less. This helped with my mileage.

well i got the exhaust finished. it turned out great....sounds just awsome. I dont know if there was a huge performance gain, It is a bit quicker but nothing that is going to set me back in the seat hard. Those 5.8's arnt real power houses anyways. I wouldnt expect you to feel any difference with just the headers and y-pipe because I know for a fact we felt no difference when we put our Bassani's on......I might be mistaken but it felt as if MAYBE it had a little quicker throttle response but that is it. Im sure if i was to put our truck on a dyno then it would show some gains but clearly not enough for me to REALLY notice in the seat, I was just aiming for an exhaust tone that I could really hear...and let me tell you, those 40's really scream I am very pleased.
