Go out and ****** up an 04 Heritage before they are all gone. My 2003 V6 auto SuperCab with 3.55 gears and 16in wheels gets 18.5 average over the 8500 miles I have owned it, and 20+MPG highway at 70 mph. I'm very happy with the truck, it is perfected! From my test drive of both, it is comparable to a 2004 4.6L V8 new style, in power avaiable to do work, and maybe even a little stronger.

True. I did not expect honda accord numbers, but I did expect something close to their claimed ratings.
Obviously some people will have numbers on the higher end of that number and others much lower. This is the quote verbatim from the window sticker. " Actual Mileage will vary with options, driving conditions, driving habits and vehicle condition. Results reported to the EPA indicate that the majority of vehicles with these estimates will achieve between 11 and 17mpg in the city and between 15 and 21mpg on the highway." Further cold weather, a new engine, idling etc will decrease these figures even more.

I don't mean to tarnish your happy-bubbly new car pride. I'll let you know when I too become a member of the good mileage club. There seems to be a mix of folks that either do good, or do as I which is well below the ratings. See you at the pump!<!-- / message -->
I don't have "happy-bubbly new car pride to be tarnished so no worries. This is a 2.5 ton truck with a V-8 engine. I don't think anybody will ever qualify for the good mileage club.

My F150 SuprCrew FX4 is 10 days old. I have 470 miles on it so far. I have averaged 13.8 mpg over all driving mostly in the city (90%). I feel that it will take several thousand miles to break in the engine. I expect to average 15 - 16 mpg in the city after a proper break in period.

04 Scab FX4 5.4 3.73 w/6000 miles

Did two trips last week of around 300 miles each....first got 17.6 mpg and second got 19.7 mpg....difference was average speed was 74 first and 82 second.

In town I average 14.9 which is far better than my old 97 scab 5.4 off road which got 12.1 city and 13 highway!

I get about 16MPG, but I don't worry about things like that......If it got 10MPG or 20MPG great!.....Seperates the men from the boys. Can't afford it, don't drive it....

Two things effect gas mileage: Driver habits and engine break-in....Myself, I do not baby the truck, drive it hard so it will learn (computer)....

Sorry ladies for the one gender bias....

I get between 13 and 14 mpg. My driving style is questionable, and I certainly didn't buy it for economy. I have a 5.4L and 3.73 gears.

FX4 Supercab with 3.73 gears here. Get about 13-13.5 in stop & go traffic with a heavy foot, 14-16 on the open road running 75-85 mph. Best was 19 mpg from Minden Nevada to Santa Cruz, CA. Seems like Nevada's fuel is much better than the c#@% refined for California! I'm curious if an intake, exhaust & tuner will make any difference...

My previous vehicle was a 1996 Pathfinder LE with a V6. My 04 Lariat SCREW 4 X 4 gets better gas mileage, by 2-3 miles a gallon. I am average 18, though most of my driving is to\from work on a highway.

5.4L FX4 3.73 LS SuperCab close to 11000 miles

I seem to get right at 14MPG no matter how I drive and no matter if im driving in mostly city or mostly highway. I dont know how some of you guys are getting close to 19 with similar trucks. Do any of you getting better mileage with similar trucks have any mods on them?? Regardless of mileage I love this truck

When I had my last vehicle (2002 Sport Trac) I determined that not using the A/C would net me 1-2 mpg, and also cut down on the pinging. Anybody ever try this with the F-150?

Open all the windows and sunroof...sure do, but not for saving gas. Just a nice day out...

Opening up the back electric window is the coolest. I can sit there open and closing the window, just for kicks...Just don't forget to close window when you enter a car wash....
