CB Wiring question

Im puttin a CB radio in my 2004 FX4 without center console. I have designed a mount that goes in where the little cubby hole under the cupholders are in the dash. My question is where should I hook up my power and ground connections. Thanks

The ground you could actually attach to anything metal that is attached to the frame, but an actual ground wire would probably be better. The hot wire can probably be tied in to the fuse box as I know there are empty unused spots in there or you could tie it into your power point wiring. There may actually be a hot and a ground wire there to tie into.

As BIRDHUNTER1 stated, the best place to ground any electrical equipment is to place the ground on a metal surface with the least resistance to the negative side of the battery (i.e. the truck frame). In your application, as long as you are installing a non-modified CB radio, I believe any metal surface under the dash, like the support frame for the dash, will be sufficient for your application. As far as the power goes, you want to make sure that you will not overlaod the power circuit from which you are obtaining the power. You can definately pull power from the fuse box, but I suggest you get the power from an area that does not correlate to any electronic control devices and that the power supply be greater than a 5 amp fuse. Remember to install your power line on a switched area (prevents accidentally leaving the radio on and draining the battery) with the supplied fuse for protection. LOL and have fun talking.

Forgot to add: Where would be the best place to tie into? Im looking in the manual at all the fuses and see a couple. There is a 10amp that says it is for "DVD battery power." I also thought about using the trailer stop and turn signals since i rarely tow a trailer anyway. Im not sure how to hook up the wire. Thanks again

if you have a test light or a voltmeter check some of the un-used slots till you find one that is hot then but a connector on then end of you hot wire and slide it into the slot thats how i did mind
