4 banger or V8??

Sorry but this doesent have anything to do with ford trucks but im hopeing to get some ideas. The truck is a 1987 Toyota with the stock 4 banger with 260,000 miles on it. It doesent have enough power for some of the stuff i am wanting to do with it so here are my choices. I can "build up" the stock engine with a stroker kit, hedders, etc... or i could put a 283 V8 out of a 1958 truck that i can rebuild and put in it. So my question is what would be a better choice for 4-wheeling and light towing (4wheelers, snowmobiles), should i stay with building up the stock engine or go with the 283?

If costs and time to complete are not an issue, go with a V8 swap. The stroker kit should work well too and cost less time/money. I have had my butt in the seat of 4 toys and the one that sticks out is the V6 truck, that dude has more power and fun factor than any of the 4's.

My $.02
The 4 will be lighter and less apt to sink your nose into the mud like the V8. but the 8 will be fun no matter what.
