Stock DVD Ent System

I am just trying to figure out if it is true that you cannot use the Stock overhead DVD Ent system if you get this head unit. I dont understand why you wouldnt be able to unless they put some type of chip or something in the DVD System which requires the head unit (CD Six).

Thanks,

Dave

The stock system uses some canbuss communication system that is proprietary to Ford vehicles. So the stock receiver can decode it correctly but aftermarket cannot. Some aftermarket companies are reverse engineering the canbuss setup to make stock accessories work with aftermarket setups.

Thanks for the info... Is this proven with this Stock DVD Ent unit?

Couldnt it still be used alone with Wireless headphones that came with it and standard Headphones?

Thanks,

Dave
