1954 F100 Door Hinges

I am going to rebuild the door hinges in my '54 F100 by putting in oversized hinge pins. I tried to knock out one of the the pins with a pin punch, but the pin didn't budge. Do I have to press or drill them out, or do I have to basically whack them harder?

I recently removed the hinge pins on my 48 and it took a lot of pounding and PB Blaster. Don't get in a hurry with them. Try pounding on them for about 5 minutes and them let them sit for a day with plenty of penetrating oil, then try again next day. They will eventually come out. If you are going to use oversized hinge pins anyway, it wouldn't hurt to drill them out as a last resort, but they should come out eventually.

Do you have any old time boneyards in your area, especially ones with trucks? I considered what you are planning for my 54 F350 but decided it was a lot of work. Found a 55 F600 with perfect hinges for $10 the pair. Went back later (couldnt fit the doors in a Taurus!) and salvaged the doors and lots of other hard to find items.

Way to go! Lots of times you can get lucky and find what you need in boneyards, back alleys etc. Just takes time and luck. Nice part is that the larger trucks have the same doors, hoods(fenders have bigger wheel openings) and other parts that fit F100`s. The body parts may look different because of the size of the bigger trucks but are the same and in better shape. Nice to see you are a Ford family with a Taurus!
