I have read every page on this thread about paints on the ford y blocks and cant get a straight answer on what color the block should be on my 1960 f100 y block. Im not exactly sure if its a 272,292 or 312. Its not the original motor for the truck. I just would like to know what the color combo is for the block, intake, and rams horns. Also how about the bellhousing for the ford o matic?
I haven't read through this thread for quite some time, but I don't know if there was ever a consensus. I know my 239 was yellow. It was rebuilt around 1970 and it now actually has heads from two different sizes (I think the other head is a 272 head one head is an EBV and the other an ECG) the other head was red. I'm not sure if it's this thread or another that showed pictures of engines, but they were 1955 engines I think.
From my readings on this forum, Ford did things to get these trucks out the door, so they weren't always consistent.
You might ask this question on the 48-60 forum. That one has a lot more activity than this one, and there are a lot of Y-block experts there.

I have no idea, sorry! I know with certainty about the colors of '54, '55, '56 Y-Blocks. What I would suggest is buy a color dealer brochure on ebay that shows you color pics of the engines available in 1960, do some investigation on your own and find out.
I found pictures of a Y-Block from two different sources, both 1960 F100 restored. Don't know if they changed the colors but you may want to consider as a reference. This one is from Mike Mueller.
