Question 1975 crew cab body to 1994 f350 frame

I have a 1975 crew cab and can get my hands on a totaled 1994 f350. The f350 was totaled because of body damage only. The frame, running gear and drivetrain(powerstroke/5spd.) are fine. Has anyone tried to swap a '73-'79 body to a 1990s frame? I know I will have to deal with wheelbase issues, swapping alot of electronics and the dashboard to make the powerstroke run, etc. It would make a kool truck but if someone has already tried the body swap and found it too labor intensive I will pass. If someone has done the body swap with success, please let me know how it was done.
Thanks in advance.

I've started looking at puting a 73-79 cab on a newer frame

The rear cab mount on 80-96 cabs is on the inside of the frame.
The rear cab mount on 73-79 cabs is on the outside of the frame.

That frame mount will have to be moved.

I don't know how, but you will need to convert the clutch linkage to a hydraulic setup.

I'm sure there are other problems, but I think its possible.

measure, measure, measure, measure, That is most important. I had an 75 chassis with an 84 body... It looked super tough... Your doing the reverse but it is very possible to get the job done.. Your gonna need to have a full garage... or a couple friends with certain tools... welder, torches... etc. etc..

but I would go for it...

good luck

i'm getting a 73 crewcab, but just the cab, so i'm looking to do the same thing. i know where there's a early 80's 3/4ton crew cab long box 4x4 frame, and a 90 extended cab, long box frame, but don't know which route i'll take... it's definatly going to be a new frame, 3/4 ton 4x4.. not that i'm a big fan of the ttb front end, but for me, it'll work fine.

some crewcabs have the rear mounts inside the frame, some outside, I have both. I havent looked lately, but I think the cabs with outside mounts may also have the provision for inside mounts if the same lower mounting panel is used (since crewcabs were built from cut up regular cabs)

I think your biggest issue will be the firewall with the powerstroke, and clearance with the downpipe/firewall, and the 73-79 A/C unit/PSD valvecover.

good luck
