Oil Canister quesion

This is probably a dumb question but I want to be cautious and not break anything. I have a 50 model with a flathead 6 that has only been run occasionaly in the last 20 years. The engine is running well but needs an oil change. I have drained the oil but can't seem to get the top off of the oil canister. Am I missing something?? I have removed the bolt that holds it down but can't get the cap to budge, does it screw off or just pop straight up. Any tricks would be appreciated.

This cap just pops off, once you have the bolt out. Get a hammer and tap upwards around the lid. If worst comes to worst, take the canister off and stand it upside down and soak it with some penatrant.
Good Luck!!!
