Holley vs Edelbrock for 351m?
I am new to this board. You guys have tons of info. Maybe I am asking a question that has been asked numerous times. I am going to change from a 2bbl to a 4 bbl on my 351m, that has been bored to a 400. I was looking at an edelbrock manifold and carb.
Which is a better way to go for mileage and performanc, Edelbrock or Holley carb. Edelbrock or Weiand or stock manifold?
Thanks in advance.

Check in the 351c/m/400 forum. You'll get alot more answers. From what I've learned the manifolds are close, the edelbrock has a little better design, if you go with the performer 400 intake. The carb is up to you. Guys have good luck with edelbrocks and holleys. All depends on what you like working with. Me, I perfer my Carter 625
OH, and the block doesn't need bored, just need to change the crank and pistions to go from 351m-400 If someone told you they bored it out to that double check thier work.........

My '77 has the "I think it's a 351M" engine. All identifying tags and decals are missing; the valvecovers are plain Ford Blue. And the truck is old enough it's likely been rebuilt. I guess I'll have to pull a plug soon, and measure the stroke. A previous owner already installed an Edelbrock Performer 400 manifold and a 4 barrel Holley -- that's in TERRIBLE shape and has to be replaced.
I just popped the $$$ for the 1406 Edelbrock. That's the 600 cfm with electric choke. I was leaning toward the 1403, which is 500 cfm, but they wanted more money and it had to be ordered. The 1406 was in stock. Of course, I had to call Edelbrock's tech line, then order the base adapter and kickdown linkage adapter for my application. But hopefully, I'll soon have my truck back on the road and running a lot better than it has been.
I'll let you know how it works out.
