Only sold in sets. I bought a used 03 Exp with the nav system and we had the disks during the test drive, the Salesman showed us how to use the system. When it came back form being detailed at delivery they were gone. They had to get another set which was missing one CD from another Exp. They tried and tried but could not get one CD they had to get a whole new set.

Anyway check eBay I have seen singles for sale there.

You better get the update nav cds for your "specific year Expedition" from Navteq.

For instance you have an 03 EB Expy with nav and buy a set of disks from a 2005 EB Expy on ebay and install them you run the chance of screwing up your radio. Ask me how I know.....

Wink

I did buy a new set, Talked to Navtech, and they said I could have problems if I load something else, just got it and it works great, the new updated 07 addition was worth the cost for me. thanks

New guy looking for some help.

I have an '06 Limited, and am really disappointed in the Nav. There are two gripes.

First, the quality of the maps is pretty terrible. It seems as if they marked major roads, and the minor roads that connect to them. Though the minor roads are really only marked for a few hundred feet off of the major road.

Second, I don't prefer the top down view.

Does anyone know how well the upgrades will address these concerns? The maps are really number one. I had always been led to believe, as dumb as it may sound, that CD based Nav had more detail than DVD. The tradeoff was it is not convenient to switch discs. I'm not convinced.

For reference, my discs are one release or another of the rev 3. I can get the particulars if it makes a big difference.

I have the new 07 updates, and I like them, if you look in Google maps you'll see that Navtech supplies the same maps for them, and you can see the detail. I was please with mine. Mine I believe is a CD version. Good luck.

So your upgrades have as much detail as Google maps? That would be a HUGE improvement.

I just checked Navteq, and the CD based upgrade "Just Released" has more data than the '07 DVD upgrade. That's good news.

Did the appearance of the display change at all? If so, how?

2006 Nav System Locks Up

Hi, I'm having a problem with my nav system in my 2006 Expedition Limited (I hear it's the Visteon OEM). Initially it was fine, but recently it's been "freezing" up. By this I mean the clock displayed in the upper right corner stops updating - it will show the same time for over an hour on long trips! The location also starts to get very wrong very quickly (I assume this is the dead-reckoning system being used rather than GPS). I thought the only way to fix it was to turn the vehicle off completely, then start up again. But it will eventually happen again. Recently I found that doing a manual position change (somewhere in the Menu->System menu) will also cause it to recover. I've noticed the compass indication being any colour incl red or white - it doesn't seem to matter.

What kind of troubleshooting steps should I be looking at? Is the antenna behind the rear view mirror, or is that the compass?

Also, anybody know if the 2007 CD update by Navteq includes Calgary AB in the update? My house (purchased in 2003) isn't even on their previous map... :-(

Thanks!

i have a set of "white" updated discs at home. i am missing the northeast region, but if you don't need that one, you'll be all set. i didn't care for the oem system, so i sold it on ebay and i now(almost 2 yrs) have an eclipse avn 5510, and it is easily 1000 times better than oem. lmk if interested in the discs.

I need a Northeast disc if anyone is willing to sell one. Or I can trade you all the others for it - my NE got wrecked in the paint booth, and it is the only one I need.

Question Navigation System

Hello... I need help. I have a 2003 Expy EB with the stock radio (the 6-disc in dash). I was given a navigation system radio out of a 2004 Expy. I was wondering if I can replace the original radio with the navigation radio without any problems. Do I need to change any of the wiring or buy any additional components to make it work? Also, I don't have any of the CD's that I need to operate it. I live in NE Indiana, which CD would I need? Does anybody have that CD? If anybody can help me, please let me know. My email is derek416@embarqmail.com I don't know anything about the nav. radio or if it will even work in my expy. Also, if anybody has the CD's and they don't want or need them I would be willing to buy them.... or even a copy of them. Thanks!

derek...the wiring harnesses are completely different. you would need a harness from a nav expedition to make it work. not worth it imo. i had the oe navigation, and it was sub-par. plus, i heard navtq isn't making any more updates for the old cd-rom systems. if you want nav, your best bet is a/m. i have eclipse, and i am 100000000000000 time more satisfied with it than the oe nav unit. there are many brands out there, just do your research and get the best one for you.

Ok, thanks 04markIII. I have an aftermarket Pioneer Avic D3 that I have installed in my 01 Expy. I love that unit. It works great and never had any problems with it. I am trying to sell my 01. Maybe I will just keep the Pioneer unit and move it over to my 03 Expy instead of trying to mess around with trying to get the factory one to work. Thanks again for your input.
