I was thinking in terms of an older vehicle that would have its value reduced by changing it over. If I ever moved to Oz and could only bring one vehicle with me, it would have to be the Tiger, but since it was an original LHD model I believe it would reduce its value to convert it.
Interestingly enough, with all our screwed up laws here (especially in California) it's not illegal to have and drive an RHD vehicle. My Jag is RHD, and I used to have a buddy who had a RHD Tiger. Our mail delivery vehicles are also primarily RHD.
Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.
A lot of the 60's American cars here are still LHD, purely for the cost of conversion... Mustangs, Thunderbirds etc. etc.
Here, because we are a RHD nation your resale value doesn't really change with rare vehicles if it is LHD or RHD, you have the plus of greater originality equally outweighed with the less "usability" of it, it is more an originality point of thing from the owner... and it makes it more appealing to anyone overseas.
And the Tiger would be by far the hardest vehicle of your collection to find here. When they do come up for sale (rarely) they sell for at least US$60-70k
And keeping it LHD would be fine.

Hmmm, for that kind of money I'll buy a couple of them and bring them with me! I paid $800 for mine (wrecked but driveable) back in 1980, and they can be had today for $10K-30K in decent shape. You can still find a basket case for about $6K on occasion.

Hey Tim,
I was in BB this weekend. Went down to help my brother with his boat. I'll be going down again in a couple of weeks. I'll let you know when and maybe catch up. Hows the tree surgery going? When do you think you'll be back on the road?
Apologies to all for not introducing myself prior to posting,I thought I had sent one in but my first attempt must have gone astray.
I am from Brisbane and run a 56 f100 fresh in from Texas and it will stay left hook.It has been on the road for about 8 months.
Don't know if I'm allowed to Post in here yet, but I did submit and ask permission thing to BigF350, so do hope it's OK?
I'm from Western Orz-Trail-Ya, the t'other side of the big pizza from BigF350..
We believe in secession from the Commonwealth and becommin a "independant principality" just like my hero & mentor Prince Len of the Hutt River Province!
"Dig a ruddy great channel down the WA Border and mount the guns" was my Ol mans catch cry...
We voted to seceed once, way back in the early days but the states in the east rigged the ballot and wouldn't let us leave!
We're a bit parochial for the rest of the Aussies to consider us part of the same continent. Sometimes they refer to us (derisively) as "sand gropers" or just plain "T'other siders"...while we refer to them as variously "Bananna Benders", "Crow Eaters" or other derogatory names - really tho, we love em to death - its the Kiwis we really like to hate! Nyuk Nyul Nyuk...
I own a charter fishing bidness here - you can check out all about us (me n the family) at our website! http://www.flywest.com.au
Just in the process of buying a F250 for haulin the charter boat up the coast and back! (Which is how I ended up in here)!
Seems we have folks from all over which is cool!
I hope to learn a lot about these F trucks, and other good stuff from fellow forum members and with a half ounce a luck, maybe I can contribute something worthwhile once in a while - even if it's only a chuckle occasionally!
If theres anything you want to know about my part of Aus don't be scared to ask - while I may or may not know the anmswer, I can lie thru my teeth underwater, well enough to probably get by with a passable response sufficient to fool anyone who aint actually lived here! ;o)

Ya, and you are approved now (I think that means you get to choose the beer )

If you have any questions about them feel free to post them up in the Superduty or 7.3l forum, giving the vehicle specs and I will try my best to help you out.
I assume you are getting the 7.3l? Auto transmission?
Not the 5.4l petrol, or 4.2l diesel?

Truthfully I had my eye on a F350 superduty from the East but the transport / licensing logisitics and buying one sight unseen had me spooked so I settled for the standard F250 that was available locally - now all it needs is for the finance people to say yeah or neigh!
The Kiwi's are alright, they hafta be - half of em live here! ;o)
Hopefully - it'll prove to be the right vehicle, because I can't see me affording another one anytime soon this lifetime!
A few comments though...
Be careful with regards to price, since they stopped selling 7.3l's here, dealers feel they can charge like a wounded bull for any second hand units... I have seen a couple of units sell second hand more than what a new one costs.
A few other things, it will probably pull left slightly, visit your local Ford dealer for that, they came with the incorrect caster from the Factory.
Also the auto's in them go south eventually. Don't be overly concerned about the possibility of it - they are very reliable trucks overall - but prepare yourself for when it happens.
I will get you the name of the best transmission shop I know in the world when I go home tonight that happens to be in your neck of the woods, just in case. Its not really a matter of if, but when, you can last 400,000kms on the transmission (but with WA heat, and towing a large boat, I would suggest not), or they could head "west" at 20,000km.
Other things to look at are Ball Joints (there is a great "how to" procedure on here if you want to change them yourself). Steering links - particularly if its been used in water/heavy dust - they just get quite a bit of play in them.
Also, make sure it goes in and out of 4x4 easily as well. (some of the trucks have poor vacuum assist)
Also, ask at your local Ford dealer for an OASIS report - this is the history of all warranty repairs.
Oh, I am not trying to scare you away from them, just forewarn you - but the trucks are manufactured in Brazil, and the build quality isn't like an Audi, but they are VERY tough trucks (I put my 4x4 F350 through hell and back for 130,000km before I sold it) they are much more comfortable and powerful than a LandCruiser or Patrol, tow a lot better, and in truth (the Nissan/Toyota guys won't believe you here) they will eat one off-road.
Not to mention, you can quite happily put 51" tyres on the stock axles (try that on a LandCruiser). Apart from the auto - the drivetrain will quite happily support 500+hp, if you like burning off Hondas at traffic lights while towing your 3tonne boat .
