How to Mud/Snow/Water proof your rig
#46
Take the starter apart and silicone all the seams and holes. You can even fab up stuff if the water gets in through the bellhousing. Although it's easier to waterproof the bellhousing than to seal up the output shaft of the starter. As for diffs and distributors. I read an article about a guy who put onboard air and plumbed regulated air pressure to everything at about 1/2 psi to keep out the water. Don't forget that if you have a tailgate and the bed is filled with water it can weigh about 2-3 tons. You have to drain the bed before you can climb out of the hole. As for the aircleaner, what about the aftermarket plastic housings for cars that have the twin inlets? The housing seals up pretty good and you could run the twin hoses up into the cowl or inside the cab. As long as the aircleaner housing is sealed, you shouldn't lose any power or suck any water up.
