Question mustang 302 on ranger

Hi. I'd like to throw a mustang 302 with tranny on my 1994 ford ranger to replace my 4L V6. Will it mount to my frame alright? any better/more recommened motors to throw on my truck?

I've seen it done with the older bodystyle Rangers, so I wouldnt see why you couldnt do it with yours. Id imagine you will need new motor and tranny mounts, new driveshaft, and God knows what you will have to do w/the computer.

to drop the 5.0L or 302 (you can go all the way up to a 460) you first have to move the fire wall back about 1inch. then go find your self a decent pair of 4X4 front coil springs and install them. new motor mounts can be bought from summit. if you have the 7.5 rearend i would swap it out to the mustang 8.8 or a 9inch. Most of the stuff you can get from motorhaven (site sponser). try motor haven First for the parts you need

MY truck is a 4x4 already. Are you sure about moving the firewall? I have a 8.8 in rearend already too.

not exactly 1in but close to it. if you just bend it with a sledge hammer you risk bending the vacuum booster & master cylinder. you also have to cut a notch out of the heater box so the valve cover will fit.

i my self haven't done one but i have watched my uncle do one with a boss 302 and as soon as i get this cast cut off my foot my buddies neighbor asked me help him install a 5.4L lighting motor in his 99 super cab.
