FI fuel pum for a carbed 460
Greetings!
I have a stock '71 460 w/ Holley 750 carb, a Carter electric fuel pump located back by the tank and no mechanical fuel pump.
I just got an electric fuel pump from an '85 fuel injected Mustang. Which, I'm guessing, pump puts out a LOT more PSI than the carter. I think I'm getting 8-9 psi on the carter.
My questions are:
Will the Mustang pump put out too much PSI for my carb?
What, if any, damage will it do.
Thanks in advance.
Kevin K.

too much psi, carbs don't need no more than 7psi. the mustang pump is for a cfi and will probably run about 15 or so psi if I remember right.
if you run a regulator like you should be doing now the pump will just over work itself and burn out quickly.
Whats wrong with your current setup?
if its a stock motor you really can't beat a mechanical pump for price, simplicity, and preformance.
