Bubbling gas! HELP!

I just rebuilt my carb and got everything hooked back up. Turned the truck over and it started fine. Went around to look at the carb and what not when I noticed that fuel was bubbling out of the vents in the top of the carb! I mean, alot of fuel! I shut the engine off out of fear of blowing myself up, ha ha. Tried it again a few minutes later with the same result. Whats causing this? Is my float level set wrong or something? The fuel bowl with the air horn removed is about 3/4 full with gas and the float seems to be sitting at an upward angle to the level of the gas. I set my dry float level per specs, but I cant set my wet level with it doing this. Any ideas?

I'd say it's your float. There should be a wet spec for your carb on your rebuild sheet, so when it's not flooding you should measure it. If you set the float dead on when you rebuilt the carb, you might want to check the physical condition of the float, needle and seat.

You might want to try and observe if there are any consistent conditions that cause the problem.

I didnt see a wet spec, only a dry setting which was 7/16". I set it to that although im not sure i did it right. I bent the arm on the float that the needle hangs off of to adjust. Should i try bending it where the float attaches instead?

Nope, bending the tang from which the needle hangs is correct.

oops. So what can i do to remedy this? Bend it back down and adjust the float where the float attaches?

EDIT: Oh thought you said bending the tang from which the needle hangs was INcorrect.

Also make sure there's no little piece of crud in there keeping the needle from seating. That happened to mine and it flooded like crazy until I found it.

Well, re-adjusted the float toady, That stopped the gas overflow. Thanks! Now, my choke thermostat doesnt seem to be working. The choke just stays about 1/4 inch open. I know that all has to do with how I have the carb set up and everything. Just need to tweak. However, I need a new " choke heat tube" or "heat riser tube" Mine broke the F%*k off. Anyone know where I can get one?
