Best Rust & Salt Protection
Looking for experience on Rust And Road Salt protection. Vehicle type in Signature. Additionally what are the key areas suggested.
I live in Madison, Wisconsin. Road Salt is a big issue. Just moved here from California.
I've heard of folks using spray on bed protections.

I agree with Jeff. My current truck doesn't have it but I am originally from Michigan and we always used Ziebart for undercoating our vehicles. It is guaranteed for as long as you own the vehicle. Intitially it may cost $200 or so for it, but after that it is only like $25 to have it "touched up" every year. Never had any problems at all with it or with any car I ever had it applied to. Works great.

get for your vehicle is to wash it. Find a do it yourself wash and use it. We havent had a bad winter here in 15 years or so as far as a lot of snow (different story up north) I wash my vehicles twice a week more if need and I have no rust problems.

Let's face it-when you're dealing with constant sub-zero temps and everything liquid is frozen, washing a vehicle is not possible, at least not outside. So if you're going to be exposing your truck to salty roads and you want protection, go with a professional undercoating or if think you want to try an alternative for economics, you might want to try the spray-on undercoating with the do-it-yourself cans for at least the rear wheelwells. The front wheelwells have vinyl liners and don't need any. The Ziebart job in this area is $180. They remove the spare tire and get everthing under the bed area.

I had a 2001 SCREW and got the undercoating done by the dealer. It was from Ziebart. My 2004 SCREW has one from Auto Armor, it was also done through the dealer. I can't tell the difference, the have the same warranty. Just don't go to the dealer. Find the Ziebart or Auto Armor shop and go directly to them, you'll save some $ for sure

I agree. It's not that we have had terrible winters here in Maryland (coming from Michigan I don't think it even qualifies as a winter! haha). But they use salt like it's going out of style! So if they do the same where you are go for the professional coating. I'm **** about my truck but as stated it is usually way to cold for me to wash it like I want to in the winter. Go professtional, it's pretty cheap and worth every penny.

I just looked at the ziebart web site and called the local shop. I was told that the new vehicle warrenty applies to all vehicles with less than 12,000 miles or one year. You should be fine to get it done!
