Looks like Friday, Oct 1 may be the beginning of more activity. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6092368/ I'm gonna have a few extra air filters on hand, lol. They were hard to get back in 1980.
wow, had no idea thats been going on, I've climbed st.helens twice, and it would be interesting to head back up sometime after it does whatever it decides to do and see what kind of differance it made.
She's just shaking a bit now and then. Not too much to worry about though; back in 80 the mountian blew off the top 1300 feet. Not quite as much to blast away when it blows these days. BTW, I see the URL in my first post has been updated. What is surprising is how some people just can't seem to get close enough to the thing right now. Doesn't anyone remember that eruptions on that mountian are explosive? Dirt/rock/trees were flying at an estimated 300 MPH and temperatures in the mid 600 degree farenheit range. If you were too close when it blew, you barely had time to turn your head to see it comming, then you were vaporized ( ).

Here is a link to the volcano cam. It is supposed to update every 5 min. On friday when the mountain released some gas the cam was so buisy I couldn't get it to open. I live about 40 miles from the mountain (as the crow flies). It will be interesting to see what happens.
