swaping years 93 to 96 302

I need quick advice. My 93 f-150 302 in tired. I can pick up a 96 comlete engine and trans. How much mod would i have to do to make the swap work?
I would be Getting the cumputer, harness, intake, belt, hoses ,everything that was under the hood.

I would just use the short block and the transmission if it is the same as what is in your '93. The electronics changed substantially in '96 and are nothing like what was used in '93. It likely will not be a direct plug in fit for the harness and electronics. The engine and transmission should bolt right in without any difficulty though.

I believe that's what he meant, anything relating to electrical, fuel and emissions you want to keep from your old engine (IE intake, valve covers, hoses, wiring). It should just unbolt and bolt back.

The 1996 is OBD-II emissions compliant and the 1995 and earlier is OBD-I emissions compliant, if I am not mistaken. Anything other than mechanical parts probably won't work...

'96 is completely different electronically than even the '95. OBD-II is much more involved than the earlier computers and is not as friendly with modifications. If you found a '95 with mass air, then that could possibly work, depending on whether or not the interface between the wiring harnesses are the same. It could work, but I think there would be a lot of wiring that you would have to do in order to get the 96 electronics to match up with the rest of the '93 wiring. The distributors should be the same, so again, as long as the wiring matches up, I'd run the one out of the '96, with the 93 harness, so you can be sure the cam and distributor gears don't eat each other up. The motors themselves should swap right out with one another.

Ford motorsport sells, for around $600, a speed density to mass air conversion kit wiring harness and detailed plans/prints. They are year specific, and a bit involved, but if you have the patience and the ching, it works. Check them out
