6.0 powerstroke in 70's 2wd f100
What all would it take to put a 6.0 powerstroke in a 2wd f100. I know beefing up the frame and work a crown vic front suspension setup work? If a custom frame needs to be built does anyone know the dimensions and everything to build one or point me in the right direction. thanks in advance for any help anyone can give. i dont really want to put it on a f250 or 350 frame then I couldn't put the 5 spoke rims to make it more like a classic truck with a diesel.

It would take a lot of work that's for sure. You would have to completely re engineer the front end of the truck. Custom built everything. Then buy all the electronics to run the engine and transmission (if the Torqshift was used).
If you just want a diesel in a classic ford, seriously look at a 12 valve cummins. It would fit easier, maybe even without extreme frame mods, and the electronics required to run it are only a few wires.
A little while back Diesel Power magazine had a feature on a 60s dodge D100 with a 12 valve. It fit in the stock frame and put down some good power.

The 6.0 powerstroke only weighs 9lbs less than a 12v cummins.
It doesn't have to be a cummins. It could be a older 7.3 or 6.9 if you would want. They are also mechanical. But the cummins would be a better performer.
As far as the truck goes. I think the half ton would work fine. Just put some heavier springs under the front.

Oh I understand I just love the 6.0 so much. lol I was thinking of putting a crown vic front suspension under it but don't know which coil overs would be best for all that weight. I wanted to get a idea of which coil overs I would need so I could get everything at once. But I have no clue were to start with finding the right coil over for this application.
I work on a lot of 6.0's. That is helping to pay for the Cummins swap I am about to under take. I can easily complete the swap for less than half what it costs to fix the sick-o issues........
