'99 F-250 5.4 Cranks but no fuel..
Hey Guys,
I hope you can help me with my 99 F250 no start problem.
Drove to the shop the other day turned the truck off and went inside. Came back out and the truck would crank but did not start.
I then started to troubleshoot. I am getting spark, but no fuel. I checked the inertia switch it has not been tripped. Gave the truck a little fuel through the throttle body and it fired right up. Checked the fuel relay it seems ok. Did a few other things and now some more things are happening. When you turn the key to the on position all of the gauges sweep to max then come back down, also the theft light comes on and turns off after 3 seconds like normal but then when I turn the key to crank the theft light comes back on. I have 2 pats keys. I also tried to listen for the fuel pump when i turned to key to on but heard nothing. ???
I appreciate your time and hope you can help out.

If the theft light flashes quickly when you crank it that means the antitheft has been activated and it wont start.
You can check for power at the inertia switch. You should have power there for about 2 seconds everytime you cycle the key from off to run.
If you have power but dont hear the fuel pump then your pump is probably dead. Sometimes you can get it to work again by hitting the bottom of the tank with your fist or something else that wont dent it.

I checked the lead to the inertia switch and had power for 2 seconds when i turned the key on. I went further and checked the plug lead on the tank to the fuel pump and had power for 2 seconds. So it was the fuel pump... Changed it out today and she fired right up. Thanks for your help Dave!
