Question Initiating/Reading Engine Check Code

I have a 2001 Mazda B4000 with the engine check on. How do I initiate getting check light to flash to obtain the code for the problem? Also, where would I find the code to problem list?

With the newer systems, you need a code reader. I got mine on sale for $100. It comes with a book that shows the different codes.

I got mine on ebay for $40, and it works great couldnt be happier with it. But Auto Zone will read them for free....try there first if you dont wanna pony up for the code reader.
