Wink I Ate Cat Food (the wet kind!)

I have been trying to get over a cold that I have had recently. Basically just runny nose, sneezing and can't really taste anything (plugged nose). Well, yesterday my wife thought I was kinda faking it (to get out of work). So I told her that I can't even taste the food I eat! She said "ya, ok, whatever!". So I was out to prove her wrong. What could I eat that I would NEVER eat if I could taste it. Then I saw it. My 3 cats' food. It was no-name brand wet meats, chicked flavoured. It was sitting there in all it's glory, calling out to me.

I grab a fork. My wife says "what are you doing?". I say "watch and see". I go get a half a fork full of this kitty decadence. She starts laughing. So, I get it and open my mouth and put it inside. She screams! I pull it out and ask what is wrong. She says not to do it. So then I did it for real. Wow that stuff is strangely moist! I couldn't even taste it but I kinda gagged just because of the thought of it.

Now my question is: Will I get worms? My mother-in-law says I can. I'm just kidding. You guys don't think I am strange do you? Please tell me I am *meow* normal.

-Matt

P.S. I would never do it again in a million years. It was strange......

Don't worry Beast you won't get worms. All canned cat and dog food is cooked before it is packaged/canned.

The only thing you may have to worry about is hairballs or throwing your back out trying to clean yourself with your tongue!

Good stuff, ain't it!

Just be sure to use the litter box, mister!

I actually used to eat dry dog food regularly as a toddler... home movies to back it up, too.

Oh, was this the chicken, beef, or .... hearty chunks of steak with a sprinkling of salmon

my old roomate used to have a puppy, and friends would stop by with different treats for her, the kind that looked and kind of tasted like bacon. I used to eat a piece just with her just because...sometimes it was just like beef jerky. She didn't mind sharing.

Darn it, I have to be a killjoy. I once read somewhere that dog/cat food is basically up to FDA standards because they figured out that too many people were eating it years ago (po' folks, drunk college kids and the like). Besides, plenty of folks have eaten many weirder things not normally in the civilized diet.

I have been in Pet food plants, a lot.

What I am going to say is not speculation or what I heard from my neighbor or brother in law or read on the internet.

The example I am using is a plant that uses all the wste from the number one chicken supplier in the country.

They use everything they can not sell to humans from the chickens.

Beaks, All the fat and TONS of feathers. I was called in to one plant to design a H2S monitoring system on the feather line.
They have a conveyor that is nothing but feathers that go into a cooker.

Sometimes the feathers are just piled up and start to decay before they process them. When they start to decay they emit H2S which will kill you btw.

Anyway they found a guy passed out from it and I had to put a system in there to detect it.

The other thing that really stuck out was the pile of yellow chicken fat on the floor about 15 feet high and about 30 feet in diameter.

This was a dry food plant so I don't know about the canned stuff.

Thank you for your time

Mike
