1950 truck bed

I have a 1950 f-1 and have found a 48 bed. which to me is close enough in looks and better than the big gmc bed that is on it now, I just wonder how to attach the 48 bed on my 1950 does it bolt on the same or will I have to modify it. I am going to get the bed from a farmer who has it as a trialer right now and I am going to swap him beds. It will be cheaper if it will just bolt on.

As far as I know 48 to 51 is the same bed, It should bolt up if you have the correct crossmembers with the new bed.

It should just bolt on. '42-mid '50 boxes were the same. Mid-50 they went to straight box sides and square stake pockets. I doubt they changed the mounting points for the box. Bolt goes thru bed floor and crossmember and top frame rail. I used 3/8" carriage bolts and my truck survived a severe rear end collison. Must be ok way to mount them.........

Just went through this on another thread and by chassing part numbers

Bolt hole locations are the same.

1st, 2nd and 3rd Crossmembers are the same - rear is heaps different, but bolts up anyway
