I have inherited a 1960 F-100 from my dad's grand dad, some people say it is despicable for me to build this truck any way but bone stock I think it would bring a smile to his face for his old farm truck to become a street rod rivaled only by a streamlined butterfly and running like a scalded dog.......opinions?

It's your truck, and your money. I, personally, love my '60 stock. I like not having power steering or power brakes, and I love the three on the tree. It's all up to you.
One option, of course, is to build a rod using a 292 V8 with vintage speed goodies. Retro rods can melt the heart of many a hardcore stocker.

Third opinion
Just to round out the opinion poll......
Slam it on the ground and stick a big block up it!
There you go.....three responses.....three opinions !!!
Like fomoko1 said......do whatever turns your crank, because the only opinion that matters is your own
Unless your married, in which case whatever you decide will be wrong so just ask her what you should do and save yourself a truck load of pain. Literally

Tell us how you really feel! HA!
You would like my truck...no billet, no megabuck, no neon, no big wheels, no paint, no interior, low buck and the closest it will ever get to a trailer is possibly pulling one.

Bottom line is....it's your truck. I've seen stock and darkside that were beautiful and I would have loved to had either. But it
s your money, your truck and you have to be happy. I wrestled with this same question. I had both style engines and trannys, all the mounts for both. I decided to go stock because you see less of them than the darksiders, I like old trucks (obviously since I have 3, 2 parts trucks) and it just appealed to me. Now, that don't mean I won't go darkside sometime later, but for now...it's stock for me.
Good luck, come back often, ask lots of questions. Ther emay be someone else who needs to know what you're asking but is afraid to ask
Good luck

PS A search for what you want to know will often turn up the answer

Have you visited some shows and scanned the magizines to get ideas? Once you have decided on what you like and determined what you can pay for, then go for it. This is a very important step. If you bite off too much because of unrealistic planning then you will probably never complete the project as all too many people do. I bought my 54 from a guy in Rio linda for $4400. He had worked on it for ten years and put in over $10K. He finally just gave up. Now it is stock looking cruiser with modern running gear and A/C. Good luck, John

In the words of my good friend the Burger King, "Have it your way"
The reason that I'm building my own truck is because there's no possible way that anyone would build one just the way I want it. Understand that there are diehards in every aspect of every hobby. All you need to do is respect both sides and opinions and do what makes you happy.
Add another vote to the "rod" column for me.
