AOD Wiring

I just purchased an AOD for my 56 project, it came from a 93 T bird. My question is how do I wire the neutral and reverse switch up to my truck and I believe this trans has an eletronic pulse for the speedometer, will this work with modern replacement guages?Or do I need to purchase an aftermarket sending unit to drive the speedometer? Thanks as always

First remove the neutral safety switch. It should have 4 wires. Hook up an ohm meter up to two the wires and push the button. If your ohm meter moves twice and stays on while the button is fully compressed this is the neutral safety switch. If it only moves once and at almost fully compressed this is your reverse bakup lights. As far as I know the stock VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensoe) will work with aftermarket guages.

You hook it to the wires. If you remove the neutral safety switch it has a little button on the bottom that is pressed when the tranny is shifted in N R and P. I guess if you know what gear you are in, you just have to test the wires.
