The 7.3 & 6.0 engines must be the most inconsistently built engines in the world, given the inconsistencies in MPG posted for stock trucks. You guys should really come to a consensus or something.
My particular powerplant has owners reporting average mileage within about .5 MPG of each other. Those PSD's are all over the place!
Ok Ken I am realy getting sick of this crap. I lowered it because I knew If I posted the same numbers you would go Ape on me again. Sorry For the Rant but I am getting sick of this so Ken please stop nit picking on every thing I Post

Relax. If you're going to post something you better be prepared to back it up. Same as in life youngin'. You're posting things which are impossible and dumbing down the board for it. When I call you on it you change your story.
Asking that truthful things get posted is nit-picking? What planet are you from again?
My X makes great mileage if I can keep my foot out of it. Average driving for me, mix highway and city, it makes 16 mpg. Highway only it can make better than 20 if you keep the cruise below 75, but that is rarely done! LOL.
FWIW my F350 makes 22+ if you keep it around 60 mph on the highway (I was bored one day). And no those are not according to the lie o meter. That thing reads anywhere from 24 to 28.

1. Grow up
2. Tell the truth
That'll keep you out of most kinds of trouble. Not all, but most.
The last time I really had a chance to check, I averaged 17.11 MPG (hand calculated; the LOM said 19+) combined city and highway on a 440 mile trip. That was runnung the 60HP tune on my Predator. I changed the tune to the 100HP for this tank last Sunday, as it is my week to drive. It's about 45 miles each way, probably 3 city and 42 highway. Right now, the LOM is telling me 21.5 (oh how I wish!!!!). But if the last trip was any indication, than I am in the 19 range. I have 225 miles on the top 1/4 tank!!!
I'll do the math when I fill it, and post back!
OK, it's Friday, and I'm done with my commute for the week. As stated above, I would fill up, do the math, and repost.
So here it is, plain and unvarnished:
Miles driven: 489.4. Probably 85% freeway, keeping pretty close to 2200RPM (C/C set @ 70MPH)
Fuel required: 29.88 gallons
Net MPG: 16.38 (LOM says 21.4. HAH!!)
So, it looks like I have to go back to the 60 HP tune, and check the EBPV tube.
I just fan't figure mine out. I am staying light on the peddle, keeping my speed down and I just can't get any mileage out of the thing. I am beginning to wonder if it was the different gears in it and I just don't know it.

My new to me 03 7.3 EX. 2wd has been good to me so far, around town we have yet to hand calculate it, but I've hand calculated my last 430 mile trip filling it up before I left and when I got back 23.22 mpg. Not bad, I kept it around 65 without the cruise, slowing slightly while going up hills and using the down hills to accellerate back up to speed. I'd also tried to stay around 3-4 seconds back from big rigs when I could. I find most of them are driving under 70 now that alot of companies are using satellites to track them. Let's face it, i used to not care about my MPG's in any vehicle. Now it's kinda of fun, and it impacts the wallet.
Oh yea, the vehicle is stock. I've been thinking about a intake, exhaust, intercooler, and chip but I don't know that I'd gain too much more for the cash outlay.

I will admit I have NOT read this whole thread...just this quoted post caught my eye...if this has been discussed...I apologize...
do you compenstate your ACTUAL miles traveled for the 35's?...your odometer will report fewer miles due to the larger diameter tires...if you are simply taking miles driven as reported by your odometer and dividing by gallons used...you will get HORRIBLE mileage...you need to calculate the % delta you need to ADD to your reported miles traveled and divide the gallons by THAT mileage...
Just a thought...sorry for intruding on your thread...
joe.
