removing the front license plate holder

i have a 02 f150 and im trying to remove the front license plate holder, i managed to remove the bottom two screws they were plastic but i cant figure out how to get the top two off with out removing my bumper and i really dont want to do that.

The top two are rivets. If you want to do it the right way, you'll have to remove (or at least loosen) the lower air dam part of the bumper, as the bracket is sandwiched between the bumper and the air dam. It's pretty easy, just alot of bolts. But if you don't want to do that, just take a sharp shop knife and score the plastic even with the bumper and snap off the top two brackets. Where do you live? Here in Texas, no front plates gives the cops a reason to pull you over. It's not really enforced, but it does happen.

after i get the air dam off how do i go about removing the rivets? use a pair of pliers?

Just drill them out with a large drill bit, I think they are aluminum so it shouldn't be very hard. Just wear eye protection so you don't get shavings in you're eyes. If you do get it off in one piece, I would be interested in having it. Mine is broken.

okie doke so heres my checklist for tomorrow

1) remove lower air dam
2) find the drill
3) find the bits
4) score the hole first?
5) close eyes and let the drill do its thing?
6) ...
7) profit++

thnx for the help i finally got it off of there. it took a while. it looks much better without it on there
